I just got an e-mail from a friend who said she's bringing six friends with her the Festival. Because if you're going to spend all night laughing, why not do it with six (or twelve or twenty) of your closest friends?
Of course that means, you want to make sure and get tickets early so that you can all sit together. So go ahead and call Actors' Cabaret at 541/683-4368 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday or log onto http://www.actorscabaret.org/tickets.php (from there go to Online Ticket Purchase Page in the first paragraph and scroll down to Pacific NW Women's Comedy Festival.
I'm really excited about the line-up of comedians for both days -- in fact, I'm thinking about doing ab crunches (not Nestle's crunches -- I already do those) every day up until the Festival so that my stomach is strong enough to take all the laughing.
Friday night's event features some of Eugene, Corvallis & Portland's best. Melody Dodd killed at The McDonald Theater at the Chuckles for Charity benefit for Save the Pets in August. Sarah Ulerick, aka, Old Queen Bananita Sluginsky, is the talk not only of Eugene, but of Harvard, where she left them in stitches at her last reunion (which proves that Ivy Leaguers do have a sense of humor, for those of you who were wondering.) Ashly Reiss is a regular featured performer at Diablo's and she promises not to cyber stalk you after the show.
Virginia Jones and I were part of the sold-out Mother's Day performance at Three Rivers Casino in May. Virginia was a finalist in the 2007 Portland Comedy Competition, The Portland Mercury's PIZZAZZ Comedy Talent Show, and the Portland Comedy Knockout. I'm fresh from my first one-hour stand-up show for 200 women in Sisters. Veronica Heath, was our first featured comedian, so scroll down to see more about how funny she is! The Free Range Chix can not only make you laugh, but they can really sing -- the way you think you can sing when you're in the shower, but later find out is not the way you actually sing. And Potpie Theater, well, you can read about them in the last post. They were so hysterical at our Festival last year, they're keynoting Friday night.
After the Friday night show, you can meet and greet and laugh with all of these wonderful comedians, as well as the eight women who will be performing on Saturday, from 10 p.m. until midnight. If you're looking for a great gift for a girlfriend, spouse, partner, co-worker, mom, or former political candidate, a ticket to our Booze & Schmooze is only $25.
Saturday night's line-up features one more Eugenian plus seven Seattle women who are coming all the way to Eugene for the Festival! Sebrina Doyle-Schultz, a regular at Eugene Celebration and the Cottage Grove Elks' Club, will lead off the evening. Amy Alpine, who is both a sexologist and a comic, prides herself on rarely getting the two confused. She is the former producer of Standing Room Only, a TV comedy talk show. Robin Fairbanks was featured on this site earlier -- scroll down to see her write-up (look hard, she's tiny). Bryley Hull writes, does improv and spends time with family... and not just to get new material. She has performed all over Seattle.
JeanAnn O'Brien is a big force in the Seattle comedy scene, but if the new diet works, that won't be true much longer. She is the founder of the Divine Order of the Ha Ha Sisterhood and has played in comedy clubs and for conferences, luncheons and retereats al around the country. Suzanne Park was a finalist in the Oxygen Network's Girls Behaving Badly talent search. In 2005, she was the winner of the Seattle Sierra Mist Comedy Competition, and in 2007, a semi-finalist in NBC's Stand-Up for Diversity Showcase. Lizzy Pilcher has performed all over the Pacific Northwest, including the Seattle Comedy Underground, Tacoma Comedy Underground, Giggles Comedy Club, and Yuk Yuk's in Vancouver, B.C. Alysia Wood was selected by Campus Activities Magazine as a Hot Comedian of 2009. She appeared on Bob & Tom, Comedy Time, and in bankruptcy court.
I don't know about you, but I'm laughing already. And let's face it, you'll never get another chance to see this many great women comedians in one space on one weekend. So treat yourself and your best friends. You'll be so glad you did.
